Franz Liszt was not only a star pianist and composer, but also a great admirer of Franz Schubert. He arranged numerous Schubert lieder for solo piano, thereby contributing significantly to their popularity. Now Francesco Piemontesi juxtaposes works by the two composers. Schubert’s Sonata in G major was the last to be published during his lifetime: a work of great emotional range that has long been a favourite of the Ticino-born pianist. Alongside this, he performs the famous Swiss volume from the *Années de pèlerinage*, in which Liszt immortalised in music his impressions of Lake Walen and the bells of Geneva, as well as more fundamental reflections on nature and its forces.
